Hello! Okay, so this is officially my first blog! You might be asking, why would you want to start a running blog? Well... I was at the gym the other day and picked up a copy of Runner's World to give me something to look at while I ran. There was a certain quote in it that really struck me and made me think, so I googled what I remembered of it, hoping to find it so I could stick it on my bulletin board in my room. The link I clicked on happened to be a blogger's page, and I became curious as to see if that person was as inspired by it as I was. Reading the blog made me want to write my own blog, and so here I am!

"If you ran without sacrifice, congratulations. You just jogged."
Running hurts. It alwasys has. Wooly mammoths didn't just roll over onto a plate and serve themselves up to prehistoric man with fries and a shake. They had to be caught - and running down woolly mammoths was a bitch. Guss what? Running is still a bitch. But one with a purpose. It teaches us that good things do not come easy. It teaches us that we are capable of more than we think. It teaches us that hard work will be rewarded and laziness will be punished. Don't expect to learn those life lessons from running's shiftless stepchild, jogging. Next time you suffer of the roads of trails, suffer proudly. It means you run like an animal.

My roommate and I used to really push each other to run every-single-day. Now that she moved to a condo and I am stuck thoroughly enjoying dorm life (not!) I don't have as much motivation as before. And it's showing...I've gained about 10 pounds! Oh well, just something to work towards I guess. Today I ran 5 miles before about keeling over. My roommate and I used to run 10K's on the treadmill without stopping daily, so this is just a tad bit irritating.
I think tomorrow I'm going to try running around the indoor track instead of the treadmill. I just hope I can keep track of my laps so I don't end up running 12 miles instead of 6...ha!

hey way to stay motivated. I started my running blog for the same purpose. I love and enjoy running but with two kids, a husband, church, a home to keep up and all the other crazy things that come my way, I had to find something to keep me accountable. I try to keep a marathon on my radar so I don't fall back wards. I am excited to read more about your running adventures.

My favorite running quote is this one:
"Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle: when the sun comes up, you'd better be running."
Enjoy your running!
